The sitting governor of Imo state, Ikedi Ohakim may very well heave a sigh of relief as the whirlwind of election petitions to courts that have removed certain PDP governors from seat was not able to overcome his victory. Perhaps, it was because he was from a different party, the Peoples Progressive Party (PPA), which has won the hearts of Imo and Abia people, thanks to former Abia governor, Orji Uzor Kalu, the current chairman of the PPA,s board of trustees. The Appeal tribunal today maintained that Ikedi Ohakim is the validly elected governor of Imo state and that he is the true winner of the governorship election. Senator Ifeanyi Ararume was his rival in the election and the PDP candidate who also took the case to court after he lost.
