Ok, now you must already be making money online in Nigeria, or you're not. Well, the internet has been around for quite somewhile and it's high time people mastered how to use it to better themselves.
Today, I want to talk about how you can make money online with Paypal, even if you are in Nigeria.
You must have been hearing about Paypal and how it is the most dominant means of sending ans receiving money online as long as you have an email address, at least that was the slogan then. Paypal allows people to send money to anyone without too much troubles or documentation, what is mostly requires is that you have an email address and your account gets credited with virtual funds which you can cash out with by accepting a cheque from Paypal.
Paypal has blacklisted some countries around the world like Nigeria and Ghana due to high cases of cyberfraud and that leaves the other options to be other countries like South Africa, Niger, Kenya, UK or the US.
How then do you make money with a Paypal account? You need to be offering services online or really have a huge list of friend who would be sending you money for free with Paypal. How do you do this?
Well one of the easiest ways to do this is to have a website, so:
Setting up your blog
You can set up a free blog at blogger.com, but it's better to set up your own at your own domain name.com, this will make people take it seriously. Getting a domain name costs around N1,500 and hosting it for a year is around N5000 totaling N6500. You can still connect the blogging platform from blogger.com and publish to your main domain periodically. Once you have your blog, you will to blog(write) about stuff that people are interested in or are searching for on the internet. In this way you will be able to drive traffic to your site and gain respect from search engines like Google.
Once you've started blogging and have made like 500 posts, then you can start connecting to your visitors who make comments by making replies to them and also providing a means by which they can contact you e.g email or instant messaging. You can then offer other services your are good in for a fee like:
- Helping other people to set up their own blogs
- Advertisements
- Blog reviews about products or services offered by third parties
- Web hosting
- Online payments
- Donations to a good cause
These are services you can offer via your blog because now, you are well known and how do you receive payments? Is is through a paypal button which you also set up on your site.
Signing up for Paypal
If you live in a paypal restricted country like Nigeria, it is hard to set up a paypal account so the best you can do is to set it up using another country's ip like US OR UK and then registering for it online. You would also need to confirm your account at certain times so that's why you will need a friend or an agent who can help give you banking and personal details in those foreign countries to set up your account. You can allow your fund to accumulate and the person will help you recieve the cheque. You may equally recieve the cheque and sentd the fund to you. If you travel a lot, it would be much easier for you to use another African country like Niger, Kenya or South Africa to cash the funds when you recieve it. Paypal cheques can be cashed in those African countries and some others as
Setting up a Paypal button
Once you already have your Paypal account ready, you can use it to create a donation or payment button for your blog where your clients can make payments to you. Someone may ask you to do a review about their site or products for a fee which you've already advertised and then they make payments to you.
Once the client makes a payment to you, Paypal will alert you and you can confirm it by logging into your account.
NB. If you live in a Paypal restricted country, make sure you always log into your paypal account from a computer whose ip is allowed.
