I have been watching news channels in Nigeria recently and reading a couple of Newspapers. It's like everyday there's a headline about our ailing President and the media seems to be in support of taking a decisive step concerning his ability to continue leading the nation.
While the honourable members of the house, the ruling party as well as the Northern Elites seem to be in support of Yar'Adua's continued stay in office, other people, though of lower political voice and the opposition are seeking for the national assembly to declare him unfit to continue in office.
There has been many stories and rumours concerning our President ever since he was rushes to Saudi hospital for treatment after complaining of chest pains. Some reports have informed us that he will not be able to return to Nigeria until next year, others are saying that there is a silent pressure on his Vice Jonathan Goodluck to resign from office prior to a declaration of Yar'Adua's alleged removal from office. We just don't know what to believe any more and with the Action congress making a statement(they always do) on this saying "there's no smoke without a fire".
While I do feel pity for the sick President and wishing that God heals him and give him strength to complete his first tenure at least, it appears that everyone is just overheating the polity from the media, the disagreements between the Reps and Senators as well as tribal comments between North and South.
What would you prefer Yaradua to do now that his health is slowing down the pace of Presidential activities in Nigeria?
Should he resign or not and why?

whether President illness is terminal or can fully recovered after a short time. That is deciding factor. If incurable the President should resigned and handover to the Vice president as provided in the constitution. If care is not taken, this will lead to the disintergration of Nigeria into man y countries

Nobody is around to direct the major affairs of the country. Yaradua cannot fulfill the contract which he had with Nigerians when he was sworn in as president. He sworn that he would govern the country faithfully and with his whole heart. Right now he has no heart, soul, power, strength and the mental ability to govern the country even if he was sincere to govern the country. Sickness has taken all these away from him.

What then becomes of him if he gets well shortly after resigning? The country has a Vice President who is suppose to deputize for him while he's away. Why can't we concentrate on that aspect and leave the President alone to tackle his health problem.
