As regard to the poll - Should Yaradua resign? conducted on the Nigerian newspapers website, it appears that a majority of Nigerians and friends of Nigeria really would prefer President Yaradua to resign.
His resignation would indeed be a popular choice for many Nigerians and this must have been due to the fact that the latter part of 2009 has been plagued with failed promises and apparent economic hardship. There is fuel scarcity, the promise of 6000MW of electricity is unfulfilled, the President is far away from the country without giving a proper direction to the VP or letter to the National Assembly.
While every sensible Nigerian would sympathize with the health of the nation's number one citizen, many are hoping he will take the path of honour in 2010 to look after his health properly for his sake and that of the nation. Yaradua's continued absence (now more than 4weeks) is certainly not helping us move forward as presidential duties will be slowed down.

It is not nice to ask a man to resign when he has been admitted to hospital. His health should be our concern

Let us allow him to treat himself first then later on he can resign

If we care about his health, the best thing to do is to support him financially as our ex-president until he recovers. At least, that is the moral thing to do. He should still be our responsibility until he is fully recovered. But as President, he can't continue at least for now and until maybe 6 months
