Much to my surprise, it appears that based on the poll - "Who do you prefer as Anambra governor?" that is still on at Nigerian newspapers, Dr Chris Ngige appears to be a strong contender. It seems that he is a popular choice although he is not campaigning under his former political party - PDP. Chris Ngige was a former governor of Anambra state during whose tenure Nigeria witnessed the first kidnapping, at it were, of a duly elected governor allegedly by Chris Uba, brother to another political contender, Andy Uba. I have always thought that Peter Obi is still in the hearts and minds of Anambrarians but it seems he could loose it to Dr Chris Ngige. Someone told me that Peter Obi once said that if elections were held today, Dr Chris Ngige would be the most popular choice. However, only time will tell and until the elections are held by INEC by Feb. 9 2010, we still have to wait for the winner. Dr Chris Ngige, on his own, I agree is a popular choice, but will Anambra people vote for him based on his political platform - AC or based on his personality? If Peter Obi were to win because of his political backing, APGA, Ojukwu as well as the Church support, he may still have to deal with the increasing fan base of Dr Chris Ngige. The elections may actually be a close call.

Re: Chris Ngige Vs Peter Obi Posted by Felix Okoli on February 09, 2010 at 07:04:07: Funny. Peter Obi won the much talked about Anambra election, but Chris Ngige came second. I think it's all about popularity. Chris Ngige, having being a governor once is actually more popular than Soludo who is seen as a new face. Perhaps if Soludo went for Senatorial election, he may win. Peter Obi really won over the PDP machine and the AC momentum! APGA has consolidated. What next?
APGA should be grooming another politician to take over from Peter Obi at the next election in 2014
Re: Chris Ngige Vs Peter Obi Posted by Felix Okoli on February 12, 2010 at 07:33:49: Peter Obi has already won the much talked about Anambra 2010 election with Chris Ngige coming second.
Chris Ngige of AC is already talking aobut going to court to challenge the election which he believed was massively rigged. Other candidates however like Andy Uba and Ekwunife have congratulated the incumbent for his win.
I just think his going to court is just another popularity campaign as going to court will keep his name in the news. It is all politics!
Re: Chris Ngige Vs Peter Obi Posted by Andy Nwangwu on February 13, 2010 at 07:25:09: I suggest that Ngige should allow peace to reign in the state. If this is a popularity campaign, he may end up getting the direct opposite of what he is bargaining for.

Re: Chris Ngige Vs Peter Obi Posted by Felix Okoli on March 16, 2010 at 04:53:28: Well It's true that the elections were not perfect.
However, I still believe this is Obi's time
