Nigeria is a big country and the largest market in Africa and for all sectors like Real estate, Capital market, Manufacturing, Telecommunication as well Education. The private sector has contributed immensely to these areas and a couple of these investors are among the richest in Nigeria.
But really, how profitable is it to invest in Nigeria? I would say that companies which are involved in Telecommunication have reaped more than 500% from their investments in Nigeria over a period of 5 years. Private universities are also on the trend with the booming Nigerian population which does not seem to slow down and time soon. Private universities are now getting a lot of applicants and undergraduates who wish to finish their education on time in order to have a more secure future. The fees charge by these private institutions are as high as N300,000($3000) per session.
Manufacturing is equally a profitable sector given that the number of manufacturers are small but manufactured goods are really in high demand in Nigeria, the only problem being irregular power supply and multiple taxation by state governments mainly in Lagos state. Lagos state is fast losing appeals as a manufacturer's haven unlike other neighboring states like Ogun and Abia.
Investing in Nigeria is truly not for the lily-livered but it is one of the most profitable investment destinations now when compared to already over-bloated consumer markets in developed countries like the US or UK.
Which of these sectors do you think are among the most profitable investment spots for the private sector?- Real estate
- Capital market
- Manufacturing
- Telecommunication
- Education
