This is a great place to be if you are in Lagos or eventually do a visit. The Palms shopping mall, Lekki is the biggest shopping mall in Lagos and probably Nigeria. It is located at Ozumba Mbadiwe avenue, Lekki.
Palms shopping mall houses a lot of corporate retail shops, the big two being Shoprite and Game. There is also a Nokia store where you can get original Nokia phones and their accessories in Nigeria and it's probably run by an approved Nokia dealer.
I decided to visit the Palms shopping centre last Sunday for the sake of touring as well as buying some items at Shoprite. The funny thing about Shoprite is that it is a very big and popular retail store where you can get the cheapest prices of household items that are original. Every weekend shopper living around Lekki must have patronized the Palms at one time or the other and you could run into celebrities on a regular occasion there. I was delighted to run into a celebrity - Monalisa Chinda and her kid, while I was going through an utility stand.
Going to Lekki was a really hectic journey due to traffic and also to the fact that my trip coincided with the Lagos Carnival which brought a lot of tourists and people into Lagos causing serious go-slows and hold-ups around the TBS.
The thing about Shoprite is that most items there are really cheap but there are other items especially equipments and tools which are way too expensive and can be gotten cheaper elsewhere. I had to buy some items like a Wahl clipper blades which had no listed price until I got to the counter and found the price was at N4600 when I could have bought it cheaper at Amazon.com for $6.42.
Well, that's the kind of shopping tactics I've found out at Shoprite. Regular items that people buy everyday is practically cheaper than you can get elsewhere but other unpopular items are way overpriced. The next store I went to was the Game store. This is also a very big retail store at the Palms and probably as big as Shoprite but it has it's own brand or products which are mostly electronics oriented. You can get the best and latest HD tv screens here, HD camcoders, cameras, sporting equipments, and of course it also has some regular retail items. The Game store is mostly suited for young people crazy about electronics and also men who may want to invest in home equipments. The prices are reasonable but you can't expect it to be cheap but it's original.
The roads to Palms shopping centre through Ozumba Mbadiwe was also blocked due to ongoing reconstruction and installation of toll gates by the Lagos state govt. You would have to follow a diversion to get there. I don't really see the need for tollgates on the road to Lekki. This is outrageous!

Re: The Palms shopping Mall, Lagos Posted by Nblinks on December 02, 2011 at 10:40:07: I am very facinated by the shopping mall. The shop is located at a very good strategic location. It will be good if the management company mentain the mall very well.
