Lately, there is a comment that has been attributed to former head of state Yakubu Gowon, during whose time, Nigeria fought a genocidal war against Ndigbo.
Recently, Gowon was quoted to have said that, the civil was was not against Igbo people. Such a statement appears so hypocritical.
My question is, if it was not against Igbo people
I am just angry that he is still making provocative and deceptive statements.
I know a lot of Ndigbo have forgiven those who punished them during the war, but is it wise to forget what happened. What happened about 40 years ago is already part of Igbo and Nigerian history and I don't see Ndigbo nor Nigeria forgetting about it.

My question is, if it was not against Igbo people
- Why were millions of Igbo people starved to death?
- Why did the Nigerian army block all access to medial aid going into the Eastern region?
- Why did they prevent missionary activities?
- Why was the Nigerian army involved in shooting to death innocent civilians?
- Why has no person or group of persons ever been taken to court for the killing of innocent Igbo people in the north before the civil war?
I am just angry that he is still making provocative and deceptive statements.

Even if a wound heals, the area can never be like other parts of the body. Ndigbo that left Rivers & South Eastern States were denied possession of their properties- abandoned property policy. My late mother was a wealthy business woman in Lagos worth thousands of pounds; everything was equated to Twenty pounds @ the end of the war. Which other tribe went through all these ?

Re: Should Ndigbo forget Biafra? Posted by ikem patrick on June 08, 2010 at 14:41:34: Is a question that need serious thinking before answer. But another question is "what is the fate of the ibos today after 40 years of humilliation and war under one nigeria"?
When this question is answered it will help the ibos decide wether or not they still want dependent or not.
