There are quite a lot of Nigerian websites available on the world wide web and some of these websites have considerable traffic that could make them comparable to websites the world over. A quick look at the Alexa ranking, which is the closest means of ranking websites, gives a list of websites most visited by Nigerians. Although there are other global brands that ranki higher than these Nigerian indigenous websites such as Yahoo, Facebook and Google, I am only taking a look at the ones specifically owned and managed by Nigerian individuals or companies. Here is the list 1. Nairaland: A big, broad discussion forum for Nigerians. Covers dozens of topics including romance, technology 2. Punchng.com: An online Nigerian newspaper websites 3. Vanguard: Online version of a Nigerian daily newspaper covering general national news, politics, business 4. ThisDay newspaper: An online version of a Nigerian daily newspaper. Contains news, with an emphasis on politics. 5. GTBank: Guaranty Trust Bank plc is a leading African Bank that offers Online/Internet Banking, Retail Banking 6. Nigeria Galleria: Nigeria Information Portal: Nigeria information portal. Business directory, jobs and vacancies, news, finance, marketplace 7. 234next.com: A breaking news website and newspaper company 8. The Sun News Online: A Nigerian newspaper with a penchant for ‘British Tabloid’ styled journalism 9. Nigerian Tribune: Online site of the Nigerian Tribune, Saturday Tribune and Sunday Tribune. 10. Nigerian best forum: Visit NBF Nigerian Forum for your Latest Free Job Search, Social Networking, Business Connections These are the couple of websites that I have been able to get from the ranking. If you also do a Google search for the keywords that make them rank so high, you would dsicover that there are mostly on top of search results and so I think this is a justified listing of top Nigerian websites according to their estimated monthly traffic
