Paypal in already in some other African countries but with limited services. For instance, all those African countries can only send money with Paypal but not withdraw from it. However, something changed during the world cup -
Paypal began full fledged services in South Africa!
My question then is, when will Paypal come to Nigeria knowing that Nigeria is the largest African market? Well, one thing I know is that Paypal is afraid of coming to Nigeria and some other African countries because it would cause great challenges for them. Perhaps not yet but until they grow bigger, maybe as big as Google or Microsoft, when they have enough resources to manage any future business activities in Nigeria.
Paypal Nigeria? Maybe not yet, but I think it is coming. If Paypal were to come to Nigeria in the short future, they would certainly need a reliable backbone to operate their services such as a Nigerian bank or payment platform.

South African's can now fully enjoy the seamless benefits of the secure online payment service PayPal thanks to a partnership by a local Bank- First National Bank (FNB) and PayPal International. South Africa in March 2010 became the st African Country to officially join the PayPal secure online payments platform(see official PayPal Blog announcement). On a positive note entry of PayPal to South African subscribers may prove to be the entry point of the service to other African Countries on the other hand this just demonstrates how Africa is inherently incapacitated perhaps 'by design' in fully utilizing or harnessing the power of E-Commerce and secure online payment systems.
