There are millions of people living in Nigeria and a lot also living outside the country. If you are Nigerian or a friend of Nigeria, let's share your opinions here on what you see happening in Nigeria.
On my own part, I know that the IGP police just helped in securing the release of a couple of journalists at Obingwa, Abia state who were said to have been kidnapped and a ransom of N200 million was initially place on their head. I think the Nigerian police are really trying and with the recent sending of police teams to those states with high rates of kidnapping like the south east, kidnapping will certainly be out of fashion. What is happening in your own part of Nigeria, even if it is a small Nigerian community within or outside the country?

Re: What is Happening in Nigeria? Posted by Sandra Talsma on July 25, 2010 at 09:03:14: I am a victim of email fraud coming out of Nigeria, I have lost my entire retirement because of these scams. I have turned to the EFCC, for help and have been scammed again by the very person that your country has put in charge of compensating scam victims, Mrs. Fraida Mzamber Waziri, she has lied and cheated me, and scammed me the same as others from your country, and I am angry, and fed up. Some one needs to investigate this woman, who lies to victims and extorts money from them, with what is called advance fee's the same as the original scammers. I have all the proof on my computer, and with a receipt from Western Union, where I sent her money to facilitate a transfer of the funds awarded me, but she chose to place the award to an offshore account thru CBN and now they are demanding $1,500 to activate this account, so more extortion is taking place. Some country hero, Not in my opinion she is a crook, the same as the crooks who scammed and extorted funds from me originally. Shame on those in government of Nigeria, who placed this ultimate scammer in charge.
Re: What is Happening in Nigeria? Posted by Felix Okoli on July 25, 2010 at 09:03:14: I feel sorry for your case. My best advise is that if you really had all the proof relating to the scam and you still have the details of western union payments, you should inform your local police of the FBI. They treat cases like this regularly and will be in a better position to help you. Going directly to the EFCC since you are outside Nigeria may be a big problem. If you were in Nigeria, going the the EFCC office in Abuja and making an official complaint would have been better and besides, you are not meant to pay any money to the EFCC for services. You are not meant to pay any so called EFCC official a single dollalr for making an official complaint, they are paid by Nigeria's Federal govt.
However, there are still two questions that I would like to be answered:1. Which EFCC official did you contact and how?
2. What kind of business were you involved in with the Nigerian scammer?

Re: What is Happening in Nigeria? Posted by Michael on July 30, 2010 at 05:56:02: Thumbs up to our Super Falcons. They just did what men could not do. They have won Colombia and have qualified for the final game against Germany at the FIFA women's world cup. They have already made history as the first African team to reach the women's semi final and if they win the world cup, it will make us proud and kinda put shame to our Inglorious Super Eagles.
Re: What is Happening in Nigeria? Posted by Eazy on July 30, 2010 at 15:21:04: CORRUPTION IN THE OFFICE OF THE MINISTRY OF FOREIGN AFFAIRS IN ABUJA.
The new government or president should look into the bad conducts of all the new offices of his government to wash away all the bad ants that are causing nigeria into a down fall.
I had a bad experience when I sent my younger brother from Delta State to the ministry of foreign affairs in Abuja to endorse my birth certificate, the endorsement fees was 'six hundred naira', after he has paid the endorsement fees, he was told to wait for one week before the collection of the endorsed birth certificate, he returned back to Delta State with the photo copy of the birth certificate and the receipt of the endorsement fees. After one week he travelled back to Abuja to collect the birth certificate, and the SURPRISE was "the birth certificate is lost in the office" despite the photo copy of the birth certificate and the receipt of the endorsement fees presented before those who are incharge in the office, there was no way to recover the birth certificate, every thing including all the transportation fares and the fees for obtaining the original birth certicate in Asaba Delta State was all wasted, my younger brother was told that he must bribe them with six to fifteen thousand naira in the office of the ministry of foreign affairs before endorsing the document, and that was why the document could not be found. My younger brother went back to Asaba to obtain another original birth certificate and travelled back to Abuja to present the new document with a bribe of six thousand naira, the endorsement fees, before the document was able to be endorsed by the foreign minister. Why is such corruption in the office of ministry of foreign affairs were good example suppose to come from for the world to see. Big shame to the minister of foreign affairs and his workers.

Re: What is Happening in Nigeria? Posted by Peter John on August 03, 2010 at 22:34:39: The old Nigeria Civil Defence officers frowned at the recruitment of new officers without verifying or promoting them.
The question is the person to be blamed; the Commandant General of Civil Defence or the Board: Federal Ministry of Interior.
This has drastically reduced the performance of these old officers. By virtue of rank, the old officers are compelled to give complement to the new recruited officers. It has further caused internal war within new and old Nigeria Civil Defence officers.
Promotion as one the motivational incentives is one of the things that can bring out the best performances from any one.
If nothing is done to correct this, it could lead to something disastrous than the ones on ground now.

Re: What is Happening in Nigeria? Posted by Pius on September 11, 2011 at 07:04:12: Nigeria is a giant of Africa for mouth. I have been to 17 countries in Africa, Asia and Europe and I found out that Nigeria is a village of Africa. In fact, Nigerian's mentality is very different from the rest of the world and Nigerians seems to be virus in so many countries. The greedy people in Nigeria government should change from their evil ways if not they will see their death with their eyes. Let there be light first in Nigeria because God created light in the beginning. God is light and Satan is darkness, that means Nigerian government is of the darkness. Entire Nigeria need to make a change so that God will brighten our country to be glistering like gold and silver......light, light, light.........

Is it not to run the affairs of the local govt, but to my greatest supprise the chairmen will just be in the office looting public found and doing nothing to help the community instead sitting down wating for the state govt to do their work for them. I don't understand, the survention given to the local govt is it to pay only the staff of that local govt. Let Nigerian see to this problem.
