What I like about this new MTN promo is that it is available for everybody unlike other lotteries and promos which are eventually awarded to only a few customers. Imagine one customer winning N10 million naira at the detriment of other participants who have already spent more than N100,000 with nothing to show for it in the Naira splash promo. Well the good thing about this new package is that even though it may look like a small reward, it is open to everybody and everyone is indeed a winner.
The new MTN packages and price reduction tariffs for Nigeria are much better than the old ones and it includes the following plans:MTN HAPPYLINK

Re: MTN Introduces new Link Packages Posted by Felix Okoli on August 04, 2010 at 07:17:19: Well to migrate to MTN FUNLINK now then Text 440 to 131Basic plan:About FUNLINK, here are the basics:- MTN to MTN calls: cost 53K/SEC
- MTN to Others: 58k/sec
- International calls: As low as 53k/sec
- SMS:
MTN TO MTN: N5 each
MTN to Others: As low as N10 each

- Free daily Midnight callsTo Migrate to MTN FUN Link: Text 440 to 131As for Xtraconnect, I don't think migrating to those old packages will work now since MTN has introduced these new ones and will want people to start migrating to it.When you check your airtime balance by dialing *556#, you will receive a message telling you to:
Upgrade to the new MTN Funlink and enjoy lower call rates. Text 440 to 131 now? Cost is free >>

Re: MTN Introduces new Link Packages Posted by Felix Okoli on August 04, 2010 at 13:02:37: The benefits are listed above. Well one benefit is that it allows you to register one best friend to whom you can call for free all day without paying for it. Imagine that

Re: MTN Introduces new Link Packages Posted by Jerrykoko on August 04, 2010 at 14:50:40: Whether the sky is blue or yellow, the packages are okay but i dont really understand what they mean by buddle plan
Re: MTN Introduces new Link Packages Posted by Felix Okoli on August 04, 2010 at 14:50:40: You mean bundle plan. Well for each of the packages, you may only chose from the two plans which are basic and bundle. If you choose basic then you won't get the bundle offer and if you choose bundle, you won't be on basic. Bundle is like the total cost you will pay for that package to get the benefits listed below. Bundle is good for you if you want to be on a budget and you want to set a maximum cost on what you want to spend. For instance, under mtn FunLink for the bundle plan, it costs a total of N1550 to get the following benefits:
- 50 MTN to MTN minutes
- 200 MTN to MTN SMS
- 60 MB Weekend data service
- My best friend: Unlimited free weekend calls to one special person
- Free daily Midnight callsBut if under the MTN FunLink, you choose to go on the Basic plan, then you will have to be on a pay as you go basis which will cost you :
- MTN to MTN: 53K/SEC
- MTN to Others: 58k/sec
and the cost will keep increasing. The bundle plan is much better as it gives you a discount on bulk purchases while basic is for those who don't want to put too much funds in their phone. Think of it, for N1550, you get 50 MTN to MTN minutes which is 50 * 60 = 3000 seconds meaning that it will cost you 51k/sec on the bundle plan while it is 53k/sec on the basic under the same Funlink package and so you see that bundle plan offers you more discount within the same package and besides, Bundle plan also offers you a free 60MB Weekend data service which you can use for internet browsing. So under all the link packages, bundle plans are much better as they offer you a discount and more benefits for your bulk purchases. It saves you more money in the long run.
Re: MTN Introduces new Link Packages Posted by Aikae on August 04, 2010 at 19:34:09: How do i register best friend on fun link?
Re: MTN Introduces new Link Packages Posted by Felix Okoli on August 04, 2010 at 19:34:09: To register your best friend on Funlink, then dial the number *563*number of Best Friend# after you must have migrated to FunLink. If you have not yet migrated to Funlink, then send the text message "440" to 131When you register a best friend under FunLink, it gives you both access to Free weekend calls (My Best Friend) from Saturday 12am to Monday morning 4.30am (52hrs 30mins). Remeber, your best friend will have to accept the invitation. Both parties will be charged N100 only
Re: MTN Introduces new Link Packages Posted by Ado on August 05, 2010 at 01:15:20: Must there b #100 on funlink account b4 i can make daily free night call
Re: MTN Introduces new Link Packages Posted by Felix Okoli on August 05, 2010 at 01:15:20: Why don't you try having N100 in your account first before using it. You may also call customer service on 180.
Re: MTN Introduces new Link Packages Posted by sunky on August 05, 2010 at 05:51:45: After I load and airtime of about #1,600 on my phone, I then text fun to 131 and my message was not sent..what is happening
Re: MTN Introduces new Link Packages Posted by Felix Okoli on August 05, 2010 at 05:51:45: I think the problem iw wit MTN. Sending texts now doesn't seem to be going. You can try later on
Re: MTN Introduces new Link Packages Posted by Alhaji Minin Ndayahaya on August 05, 2010 at 17:01:50: How can someone cancel or withdraw from MTN new package e.g Happylink if you are no more intresting?
Re: MTN Introduces new Link Packages Posted by Felix Okoli on August 05, 2010 at 17:01:50: You can migrate to any other package like Funlink, Smartlink and others but I don't think you can go back to xtraconnect or xtracool because they have been scrapped
Re: MTN Introduces new Link Packages Posted by TUOYO CEDRIC on August 06, 2010 at 01:22:52: if d minutes in funlink bundle get exhausted can I pay and get another ,finally, is it a monthly package?
Re: MTN Introduces new Link Packages Posted by Felix Okoli on August 06, 2010 at 01:22:52: Yes you should reload in order to renew your bundle on that same link package. The link package is not monthly but will only change if you migrate to another package but as for bundles and basics, you only reload when your credit finishes.
Re: MTN Introduces new Link Packages Posted by Emma Ajie on August 06, 2010 at 04:33:47: Are u sure dat funlink bundle plan is nt a monthly subscriptn? What is d exat way 2 migrate 2 Funlink Basic or Bundle plan as both requir txtng 440 to 131?
Re: MTN Introduces new Link Packages Posted by Felix Okoli on August 06, 2010 at 04:33:47: It is not a monthly subscription once you migrate to Funlink basic or bundle.
To get Funlink bundle you must first be on the Funlink package by texting 140 to 131. Then ,if you have enough credit on your phone, text FUN to 131 to buy the bundle. This will continue as long as you did not exhaust the 50 MTN2MTN minutes, 200 MTN2MTN sms and 60MB of data. It is not monthly bus as you use it.
Re: MTN Introduces new Link Packages Posted by Sirajo Moyi on August 06, 2010 at 17:35:20: 4 instance in happylink bundle, u said 22 mtn-mtn minutes, then what of other ntwk, 1 cannot call other ntwk or minutes wil b changed 4 doing dat?

Re: MTN Introduces new Link Packages Posted by seye on August 06, 2010 at 23:36:09: I try to register a number and I keep getting a message that the number can not be registered on my best friends free call package...why, don't tell me he also have to be on funlink to talk to him...this sucks
Re: MTN Introduces new Link Packages Posted by Mudasiru on August 06, 2010 at 23:52:00: I want to ask maybe.the basic one will not charge additinal cost.
Re: MTN Introduces new Link Packages Posted by Felix Okoli on August 07, 2010 at 02:35:18: @Sirajo, since MTN to others is not mentioned in the happylink bundle package, you will be charged a little higher, like 58k/sec for calls made to other networks@Omar, I don't think there is family and friends anymore rather there is my best friend@Kachi, why don't you just try and regsiter a new best friend by sending *563*number of new Best Friend#@Seye, both you and your registered best friend have to be on the same package to benefit from it, else you can still call the person at normal rates without necessarily registering it@Mudashiru, well the basic one costs only what has been advertised for you which is 53k/s for MTN to MTN calls and 58k/s for MTN to others, no other cost.
Re: MTN Introduces new Link Packages Posted by Ini on August 07, 2010 at 02:59:03: Must my friend be on the funlink package before he or she can be registered as "my best friend".
Re: MTN Introduces new Link Packages Posted by Felix Okoli on August 07, 2010 at 02:59:03: I think according to MTN, he/she has to be since both of you will be charged a N100 each for registering for that service
Re: MTN Introduces new Link Packages Posted by scorpionhead on August 07, 2010 at 05:56:17: Mtn sucks, after my friend has switched to funlink. I still can not add as my best friend,I still keep getting dis godamn message "sorry, this number can not be registerd on ur bestfriend" they better be sorry for themselves...and u Okoli, u might fail to reason wif me coz I know dis exploiters put food on ur table.
Re: MTN Introduces new Link Packages Posted by inans on August 07, 2010 at 03:45:11: i prefer the former packages to the new ones.the new ones are an indirect ways of cheating us.i enjoyed my xtraconnect faf than these......
Re: MTN Introduces new Link Packages Posted by Onelove on August 07, 2010 at 04:25:06: If i want to change my best friend number to another person, how can i do it.
Re: MTN Introduces new Link Packages Posted by Felix Okoli on August 07, 2010 at 06:57:43: @scorpionhead why can't you still use the My best friend service, you should call customer care on 180. It is a free toll line.@inans, you may still hold on to your Xtracool and Xtraconnect package@Onelove, why don't you just try and register a new best friend by sending *563*number of new Best Friend# and see if it will go. If you still have problems, just call mtn for free on 180 and wait for the customer service to pick. You may still go to any MTN customer service closest to you for assistance, but really, it is so simple that you don't need to complain about this.
Re: MTN Introduces new Link Packages Posted by Badung on August 07, 2010 at 07:03:05: What is the advantage of happy link over extra connect. I need your response to assist my decision please.
Re: MTN Introduces new Link Packages Posted by Felix Okoli on August 07, 2010 at 07:03:05: I am not really marketing for MTN but thinking about your question, what really is the advantage, I would say something.
Benefits of HappyLink over Xtraconnect:
- Calls from MTN to other networks is 12k lower than Xtraconnect
- SMS from MTN to MTN is N2 lower than Xtraconnect
Re: MTN Introduces new Link Packages Posted by Marshall on August 07, 2010 at 07:50:13: Yh. The funlink package wuda bn great if both parties didnt have to register.. Cuz 1party mit prefer to remain wt xtracool or other bundle/basic plans. Kmt
Re: MTN Introduces new Link Packages Posted by Felix Okoli on August 07, 2010 at 07:50:13: That would have made things easier for both parties but perhaps MTN had a reason for this.

That way..mtn was still gaining..and I was happy and I'm sure it was same 4 others enjoying whatever prepaid packages they chose 2 be on. Buh wid dis new exploitation scheme..I'd hav no choice than 2 migrate 2 Visa phone who's tariff is free to any visa fone and 25k/per sec 2 all netwrks after a monthly subscription of N1500.. Or even any other affordable ntwork. This is quite sad how greedy MTN seems 2 be getting dis days and exploiting even 4rm doz who don't have enuf....mchewww.. I'm so disowning my mtn sim if I can't migrate back 2 my connect (friends and family)..*boililng*reeeally angry* mchewwwww
Re: MTN Introduces new Link Packages Posted by Timberwolve on August 10, 2010 at 08:14:09: Guys 4get abt this mtn wahala links, cos i jst confirmed from them that those bundle packages are monthly based, once d month passed and you did not exhust your 50min, 60mb, 200 sms, they will jst wipe everything out....this is where they fucked up...
Re: MTN Introduces new Link Packages Posted by Felix Okoli on August 10, 2010 at 11:55:01: I understand how you guys feel and also it appears that the bundle packages last for only a month rather than till when your package finishes. I think the new promo is not compulsory yet and customers are still allowed to stick to xtraconnect or xtracool if they wish.

Re: MTN Introduces new Link Packages Posted by cindy on August 10, 2010 at 15:25:41: Ok fyn.. If mtn knw they don't have alterior motives..why don't the oda prepaid services exist no more? Or is it nw by force 2 enjoy d new link rubbish? there's actually no big deal in Mtn coming up wid new ideas..buh where d problem lies is where one r forced to remain on d new link expensive package which shows dat dey r truely up to some mischief.. And if dat be d case..then there r better options.. ThankGod d so called mtn is nt d only available network in d country.. Screw Mtn!

Re: MTN Introduces new Link Packages Posted by Felix Okoli on August 10, 2010 at 23:22:36: Why would you wish for that. Xtraconnect is dead and MTN no longer supports that. I think all MTN customers will eventually shift to this new package. It is only a matter of time so just better get used to it
Re: MTN Introduces new Link Packages Posted by Adala Lawrence on August 11, 2010 at 01:56:55: Does the benefits derived from xtraconnect not supercedes the link packages? Atleast, l have four Numbers on FAF. but On the new plan, can't have them.
Re: MTN Introduces new Link Packages Posted by Felix Okoli on August 11, 2010 at 01:56:55: That's true. I wonder why MTN removed family and friends with this so called MTN richer life train

Re: MTN Introduces new Link Packages Posted by Olaolu on August 16, 2010 at 22:32:02: Pls mr felix, how do u make mid-night calls on fun link? If that works, i think im contented with the tariff. Besides, u can spend d whole #200 at weekends by transferring if the other party cant afford it.
Re: MTN Introduces new Link Packages Posted by Felix Okoli on August 16, 2010 at 22:32:02: Free Mid-night calls on Funlink begins from 12.30 am to 4.30 am as any call you make to another MTN line onlye will not be charged. But you just need to have like N100 in your account and call the person for free.
Re: MTN Introduces new Link Packages Posted by Olaolu on August 17, 2010 at 04:07:48: Thanks for that info Mr felix. I'm very grateful. We xtra cool subscribers don't need to regret about this funlink thing. It's even an advantage... We can even make calls for 24 hrs at weekends. Up MTN!

Re: MTN Introduces new Link Packages Posted by Lawrenz on August 18, 2010 at 13:44:11: MTN!!! What exactly do they want from the subcribers this time with the new plans? Mere exploitation! If they don't have anything to offer, they should just stay at the plane they were rather than gullying the subcribers of their hard-earned pay. It should be a symbiotic thing!!! please!!!

Re: MTN Introduces new Link Packages Posted by Steve on August 28, 2010 at 03:10:35: I dont like dis new mtn package they could not even add 40mb data on happylink, haba they wan kill student
Re: MTN Introduces new Link Packages Posted by Ifebo on August 28, 2010 at 08:07:52: Hi all, I just want to clear the air on this MTN XXXLink plans.First of all, I do not like them AT ALL, they're way too expensive considering what Etisalat is offering. Now I've searched thru MTN website and other websites to get the best information. For those concerned about FAF, I want to state here that FAF is still possible ONLY if you join the HappyLink package. Now for all the packages, you can join for free for a period of 30days(1 month) but if you decide b/w that 1 month period to change to another package then you'll have to pay N100 for the change. The Basic plans allow you to make calls at the stipulated rates on their website while the bundle plans give you just a little discount, free sms and free data packages depending on the package you choose. For a student with low budget, I'll advise you use the HappyLink package as it has the cheapest call rates and also allows you to add Friends & Family (FAF). And you will also receive one free minute for every 5mins calls you receive from any network (even international calls). So if you receive an average of 15mins calls daily, then rest assured that during the course of 30 days, you'll have 1hr 30mins of free mins to call ONLY MTN numbers. The only downside is that you'll have to pay 10k/sec for Happy Hours which translates to N24 per night. But if you really need to be making free calls every night, then you'll have to move to the FunLink package and make sure you have at least N100 on your phone to make the free night calls. The bundle option sets you back N1500 monthly which from my calculations translates to 50mins @ 50kobo/sec. So invariably the only bonus they're giving is the 200 free MTN to MTN sms and 60Meg of data for browsing. However, if you are not interested in any of the packages, feel free to remain on your xtraconnect or extracool. Now one last point I want to make...I'm happy the NCC has announced the introduction of number portability in Nigeria. Which means very soon we can switch network operators without changing our existing phone numbers. Once this happens, hopefully before the end of the year, the telecoms companies will have no option but to improve their quality of service, customer support and above all pricing scheme to benefit its subscribers or risk loosing them to another network operator. It will then mean I can comfortably move my MTN number to another network and enjoy better services.

Re: MTN Introduces new Link Packages Posted by Slash on September 01, 2010 at 13:43:55: Melchi, are you sure of the claim that there is still faf on happylink? Be sure of your claim cos l don't think so. Beside, if MTN can afford its subcribers the stress of explaining in a better and clear term, l thinks the subcribers should use the power of choice.Rather than make noise, they should change to their preffered network. As for MTN,they should go check how many of their lines have been dumped.
