Charity, they say, begins at home and the former Vice President of Nigeria during Obasanjo's regime, Atiku Abubakar Abubakar has formerly applied for membership and re-entry into his home based PDP in Adamawa state.
A few weeks ago, the former VP and former Presidential candidate under the Action Congress had declared his intention to become the next President of Nigeria in 2011 but the platform under which he would run was not clear then until now when he seemingly makes a grand entry back to the People's Democratic Party.
The PDP had lost some big wig members during the political turmoil of recent past since the party did not offer them the democratic ideals they craved but it seems that with the new wind of change blowing in the party under the chairmanship of Dr. Okwesilieze Nwodo and the current reforms, a lot of them seem to be heading back home. The series of dramatic returns seem to have begun with the end of Obasanjo's supposedly dictatorial reign and the exit of the incumbent Abia state governor - T.Orji and his predecessor - Orji Uzor Kalu.
Both Atiku Abubakar and IBB seemed to have been courting the PDP following their recent declaration to run in 2011 and with Buhari already declaring his interest but with no clear party yet having gone away from the ANPP.
Atiku Abubakar Abubakar would be first PDP member to have officially declared an interest to run with his return but we are still not yet sure about the viability or certainty of IBB and Jonathan's will to campaign on the PDP platform for 2011 elections.
The application forms were said to have been forwarded by Atiku Abubakar Abubakar's office via DHL to the Adamawas state PDP chapter. The governor of the state as well as the PDP state chairman would be involved in making the final decision concerning Atiku Abubakar's official return to PDP.
