If Jonathan has a real desire and declares an intention to continue in office for a second term, I have a very strong feeling that it will be a smooth ride.In Jonathan we Trust
Nigerians have come to trust the Yaraduan + Jonathanian presidency so much and Jonathan, due to his visibly humble nature and respect for the rule of law so far has gained more trust from the good people of Nigeria that they would not mind having him for second term. Nigerians are tired of old faces in politics, they may stay in the corridors of power, but people no longer want them in power and not especially at the number one spot. Nigerian Tribes and Second Term
Igbo people see him as an Igbo man in the Niger Delta, South Southerners see him as a Niger Deltan, Yoruba see him as trusted southerner, the Middle belt see him as an ally, the Hausa-Fulani see him as a detribalised and faithful president but only greedy politicians may see him as a bad competition.
If Jonathan Goodluck asks for a second term, Nigerians would willingly give it to him but he should note that there would be more criticism towards him in the second term than in the first. Side effects of a second term
Jonathan Goodluck stands to loose his reputation if he fails to perform after the second term. People can only see a few things that he has done for now but they expect more, especially concerning NEPA/PHCN and jobs for youths who are increasingly graduating in large numbers every year.
Jonathan should expect to have more critics then than now and may lose face if he fails to perform. He may also stand the chance of making more political enemies and should provide more security for violent prone areas like Jos, Kaduna, Borno and the Niger Delta.

Nigerians should try and understand the presidential system of Govt better,Jonathan is seeking election for his first term and not the second term. If President Yar'Adua is to be alive and decides not to seek re-election, if he asks his deputy to go for the race, will you call that re-election? Nigerians should note that Jonathan is seeking election freshly and not for second term!
