Abuja stood still as the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Jonathan Goodluck, today, made his declaration to run for president in 2011.
He said, "After the release of the timetable and after thorough examination and prayers with my family. I Goodluck Ebele Azikiwe Jonathan have decided to humbly offer myself as a candidate for the presidential primaries in our party the PDP."It was more of the younger generation of politicians who voiced out their support for a Goodluck-Sambo ticket whenever the primaries are held. For a while, Jonathan seemed to have kept mute about his presidential ambitions after allowing other candidates to make their stand.
Akwa-Ibom state governor gave what seemed to be a litany of reasons why the Goodluck-Jonathan ticket should be supported and why we need to do all we can to keep them in power since they would not allow corruption and at least give constant power supply to Nigeria. He says, with Jonathan, Nigeria will continue to have goodluck.
Also, the Speaker, Dimeji Bankole and Senate President David Mark gave their speeches and at the end, President Jonathan thanked everyone and urged them to work towards victory in 2011.
One wonders how the PDP's convention will be after many big wigs including the president have expressed their desire to run in the next presidential election. The show ended with a song that goes thus:One Nigeria
For Goodluck
Nigeria
Welcome to Goodluck
Bye bye to Badluck
