As Nigeria celebrates it's 50th Independence Anniversary, it appears that we have not yet seen the last of terrorist activities as 2 bombs have been reported to have exploded in Nigeria's capital City Abuja today and it is already on CNN.
This is coming at a very crucial time and I think that the people responsible just wanted it to happen like this in order to derail the celebration. 27 people have been reported to have been injured with about 7 persons already dead. Although it had occurred a few hours ago, it has not stopped the celebration as police and the army have ensured that peace and tranquility continue and everyone has been urged not to panic. Perhaps this was meant to serve as a distraction but the politicians in Abuja don't appear to have been extremely disturbed by this since they must ensure that no more hitches occur as the celebration continues. I guess, in the midst of crisis or chaos, our 50th anniversary as a nation is worth celebrating.
Investigations have been suspended for now until after the celebrations although the security level has been moved up higher. Perhaps due to the festive nature of this independence celebration, security was a bit lapsed and that may have given the perpetrators opportunities to perfect their act.
Already the Movement for the Emancipation of the Niger Delta - MEND has taken responsibility for this latest violence and the police is not thinking far from this spot but investigations will be carried on later.
This is the first time terrorist activities have been carried out in Abuja which is seen as a more secure location than Lagos - Nigeria's former capital

IBB the master of disruption and human rights abuse must know something about the bomb blast hence his absence from the Nigerian Independence Celebration. This man is not fit to rule Nigeria because he has no respect for law and oeder talklesss of people from the South. When Oputa panel invited him, he never showed up because Oputa is not from the North. Now that A southern Jonathan Presidency had the opportunity to celebrate the 50th independence anniversary, he abstained but if he eventually becomes president he would want his souther second class citizens to rally around him, because Nigeria is his personal property. Enough of this nonesense
