While one may really feel for this former strong Lady of Oceanic bank and her family, the news right now is that she has been sentenced to an 18 months Jail. We must have all been following the events since the banking crisis in Nigeira with top bank executives implicated in fraudulent activities and since then some of them have been under arrest by the EFCC which equally have filed court cases to prosecute them based on supposedly hard evidences.
When I first saw the headline on the pages on the Sun Newspaper, I thought it was a final decision by our courts i.e. I thought it was the Supreme court. It was until I real that news in detail that I read that it was a Federal High court in Lagos that found her guilty of some charges after a plea bargain probably with the EFCC. She may however not appeal the case give that she was given 18 months plus a financial gravity of about $1.2bn. She would however to forfeit some assets and cash in order to satisfy the financial implications of the court judgement
