The mantle has fallen on Jega to ensure that the 2011 Presidential and general elections sail smoothly and the results be a honest reflection of the wishes of the great people of Nigeria.
But the pressure is also on PDP - Nigeria's ruling political party to ensure that it is truly a free and fair election and one that should provide a secure and free environment that will ensure that people vote according to their conscience without any pressure be it financial or political. The candidate that PDP presents for the 2011 Presidential election could also determine if the ruling party will still be in people's favour given that PDP's influence may have been whittling in certain states and regions in Nigeria such as some core northern states, South East and South South.
Within the People's Democratic Party, there are already factions although not strong enough to destabilize the party but given that in some Northern states, there is the Buhari and CPC coupled with the DPP and ANPP factor, in the South West and South South there is the AC battling it out with PDP and then in the East, there is APGA and PPA coupled with a loosely bound PDP.
The president that the PDP presents will matter a lot and most parties are awaiting o=for the ruling party's primaries as the outcome will throw more light on the political future of the PDP and Nigerian politics as a whole.
If Jonathan Goodluck, Nigeria's current President, wins the primaries, popular opinion believes that it will be good for the PDP and Nigeria as a whole and may help reaffirm trust in our democracy. However if Babangida or Atiku emerges as the party's flag-bearer for the party, it may not be easy for the PDP to maintain its stronghold and influence in Nigerian politics.

Jonathan is good for Nigeria as I believe he would change our country for good. Babangida should go and rest he is old and old fashioned we need a young person
Re: PDP and the 2011 Presidential elections Posted by Ebele on October 30, 2010 at 10:46:06: If GEJ wins the primaries, PDP most probably will lose out in the general election. IBB and others will work hard to support Buhari or Rebadu and this may be the end of PDP and the begging of a serious crack in Nigeria.
Re: PDP SHOULD PRAY. Posted by AKPARU V. Atari on April 17, 2011 at 02:52:44: PDP~SHLD PRAY HARD THAT GOD PERMIT RAIN OF FAVOUR TO THEM! IF THEY WON NO NONSES SHLD BE THERE MOTOR.
