I don't really like writing about who's rich and who's not as we know that everything we have comes from God and no need to idolize anybody but the reason I'm writing this is not to offer worship to the man but to give us something to look up to and believe that it is possible to make money in Nigeria and Africa at large, doing legitimate business and be acknowledged worldwide for it.
There are perhaps a couple of African countries with corrupt leaders and politicians including oil bunkerers, slave traffickers, drug barons and smugglers who may be making billions of money illegally in Africa but they are not worth talking about or using as role models and so there is a need for us to appreciate and follow the example of people and businessmen who do good business in Africa. Just a few months ago in 2010, I wrote about him being the richest man in Nigeria being the 463rd richest man in the world according to Forbes with a networth of more than $2.1bn and then the richest black man in the world.
Now it is 2011 and things have changed. The Nigerian business mogul who manages a network of businesses consolidated as the Dangote Group is into cement production, transportaion, sugar and even food industry.If you look closely at the figures now, you would see that Aliko Dangote is the fastest rising billionaire amongst the world's billionaires from about $2bn to now $13bn within a year. This had to do with the recent consolidation of other businesses into the already publicly listed Benue Cement company. Some keypoints: He's just a bit richer than Mark Zuckerberg(Facebook) and Roman Abramovich(Chelsea FC)Some Stats:
* Age: 53
* Source: sugar, flour, cement , self-made
* Residence: Lagos, Nigeria
* Country of citizenship: Nigeria
* Marital Status: Married
* Children: 3His company, Dangote Cement is the biggest cement maker in Africa and is still spreading.Well that is according to Forbes and so what do you have to say concerning this?

Nigeria Should be proud of Dangote who rose from a humble beginning with a paltry sum of N500,000 to an investor worth over $13B.Now that God has blessed him, He should know it is by the grace of God. Let him Use the opportunity to alleviate the suffering of the masses especially in the food and building sector. The world is vanity upon vanity. Whatever we have here on earth one day we would leave it behind
