Although these two political parties performed well the last Saturday elections for the National Assembly seats. ACN was giving the PDP a tough time in the South especially in natural PDP strongholds like Ogun and Osun state and others while CPC was trying to strangle PDP out of the north in states like Kaduna and even the FCT but the ruling party still came out on tops. So let's not talk about the PDP for now because it is mostly likely that they will win Nigeria's 2011 presidential elections. Now it seems that the 2 most active parties in the opposition are the CPC and ACN, what if we put them to a duel, which party is most likely to win the other? Which party will perform better than the other assuming PDP was not involved?
ACN is strong in the South and CPC is strong in the North and an alliance between the two could take PDP out of power and I hope they don't go back to the table to renegotiate that. I think between the two, CPC may have more votes than the ACN but it may not be able to sustain that strength in the long term. ACN may last longer and probably has a stronger political future than CPC. CPC without Buhari could slow down but ACN without Tinubu could still remain a major player in Nigerian politics. So I think it depends on how you look at it and when you consider the public structure, age range of active members and history.
In the short term, I think CPC can outdo the ACN but in the long term, ACN could outlive the CPC.Let's see how the Presidential results come out on Saturday. It would probably look like this:1st Jonathan Goodluck - PDP
2nd Muhammad Buhari - CPC
3rd Nuhu Ribadu - ACN
