When the results of the last NASS elections cam sailing in with PDP losing is several key states even though they still had overall majority but barely enough to to keep a 2/3 majority in the house, one would think that the PDP could very well lose the elections or at least become not too significant. The results for the NASS elections were as follows:
PDP = 104
ACN = 37
CPC = 12
ANPP = 7
APGA = 5
Accord = 4
LP = 5
PPN = 1
DPP = 1As results of the elections initially poured in, it seemed that that opposition was becoming stronger until the results for PDP started coming in too.
After the elections, I guess PDP would not have wanted an alliance between political parties else it may have given them a run for their money. With CPC's growing influence in the north and ACN growing power in the South, an alliance between the two may have been a deadly blow to the ruling party which was still recovering from their losses.
Maybe it was because of their political differences or goals but the CPC/ACN alliance just couldn't work during the week and so with Saturday's presidential elections coming soon, PDP seems to have the road all cleared up for Jonathan and Sambo.
I think they would most likely win the elections when the results are finally through.
