Results for the 2011 Presidential elections have already started trickling in and by now it appears that the ruling People's Democratic party is set for a landslide victory as it already has a clear majority on over 21 states on Nigeria out of the about 28 results already released.
According to the Nigerian constitution, a presidential candidate like Jonathan Goodluck needs to win at least 1/3 of votes in about 2/3 of the states in Nigerian and that means he has to get about 25% of votes in 24 states in Nigeria.
Now with the results released so far, Jonathan Goodluck of the PDP already has a clear majority and included below are results from the INEC
PDP 98.96% 4 . AKWA IBOM
PDP 94.58% 5 . BAUCHI
CPC 81.69%
PDP 16.05% 6 . BAYELSA
PDP 99.63%
PDP 87.28%
ACN 8.73%
CPC 2.86% 13 . EKITI
PDP 51.56%
ACN 44.67% 14. ENUGU
PDP 98.54%
CPC 51.92%
PDP 46.31% 19. KANO
CPC 60.77%
ANPP 19.69%
PDP 16.48%
PDP 64.68%
CPC 20.16%
ACN 12.64%
PDP 309177
ACN 199555
PDP 72.98%
CPC 25.27% 32. RIVERS
PDP 98%
DELTA 98.59% 33. KOGI
PDP 71.17%
CPC 23.53% 34. FCT
PDP 63.66%
CPC 33.05%
CPC 66.25%
PDP 25.35% There are 36 states in Nigeria and for now it seems that results for the other states would be received by tomorrow morning and this would have to include the remaining states Now Jonathan only needs at least 25% of votes in 3 more states to make it up to 24 and states in which he is most likely to win would include:
Calabar, Delta and Yobe or Taraba.
At this stage, it is very unlikely that his closest rival Buhari of the CPC would get close to winning any more major votes after tonightAlthough the final results are not yet ready, but it seems the PDP and Jonathan Ebele Goodluck are already set for a great victory when Monday sets in and I'm expecting a great celebration all over Nigeria States that voted for PDP
All states in the South East and South South voted overwhelmingly for the PDP while South Western states and the ACN also contributed immensley to Jonathan's victory although it seems that the agreement to support PDP by the ACN came a bit late but it was effective enough to secure votes for the President. Some northern states also contributed a bit to Jonathan impending victory but it was a tough ground as PDP lost in some states such as Niger, Kano, Borno and Sokoto but won in Nasarawa, Plateau and got more than 25% in Kaduna. The CPC
By now the CPC is no longer able to get the required votes needed for it to win and may soon have to concede and congratulate the winning President. Although some northern states voted overwhelmingly for CPC but majority actually voted for PDP and Jonathan.
