All eyes seem to be set on Imo this week as other states in Nigeria already know their governor elect for the next administration unlike Imo in which there is an unusual case of inconcluSIVE elections and has resulted in a stalemate in the state.
Rochas Okorocha of the All Progressive Grand Alliance - Ebe esere Okuko seemed set to become the winner of last week's election but even the ruling PDP govt also claimed victory even when popular opinion placed APGA in the lead.
The incumbent governor Ihedi Ohakim of the ruling PDP might have become ruffled by last week's election in which he might not have expected to go through a runoff seeing the way he confidently spoke in the media of his impending victory. As at the time the election ended, it seemed that the results were already tilting in favour of Okorocha with the people warning INEC to beware of rigging. It resulted in a stalemate as results for some other local govts and wards were not received while the deadline was elapsing. The final consensus was to reschedule final elections the following week for 3 or 4 local govts after which complete results would hav been received and the winner will then be announced.
The power of the incumbent and INEC's perceived bias towards the PDP may not be favourable for APGA and Rochas but if he succeeds in sailing through these obstacles, Imo state would definitely experience a change of government. It will be a great feat for Rochas if he is finally declared the winner of Imo state gubernatorial elections in 2011 and is given a certificate of return by INEC. It will be a great victory for Rochas Okorocha and for APGA in getting a second state in its kitty after Anambra state. It would be a huge los though for the PDP having held the state effectively for almost a decade.
What id Ohakim wins Imo state according to INEC?
I am thinking if the incumbent is declared the winner, these times may not be so peaceful for Imo state people.

Re: Will Rochas Okorocha win in Imo state Posted by valentine cruize on May 06, 2011 at 06:38:50: Rochas Okorocha is a man that understands the plight and yarnings of the imo state indegenes,Nigerian has gone beyond the level where a man would think he can hold a state to ransome,it is never madatory or written any where in Nigerian constitution that a man should impose himself on a state,if the people says no and assignes someone else to hold the mantle of leadership it is left to them.Mr Ohakim or what ever his name is after assulting a a priest on his white angelic robe should realise the rod of God is already on him and
should search for something else to get himself busy with and forget about becoming the returning gorvenor of Imo state.
