Now, talk about a notebook that does not run on Windows operating system. A laptop that runs on an Os installed remotely on Google's servers or what we refer to as a cloud. This is what the Chromebook is about - It is Google's gift to people who spend most of their time on the web. It is designed for internet users. What Google's Chromebook can do
- It loads faster than Microsoft's Os
- It puts you on the web immediately
- It doesn't run an operating system locally
- It is lighter and faster
- It rarely hangs or gets slower
- It gives the best benefits to internet users
- It can work on Wifi and 3GBrands for Chromebook
Although the Chromebook is Google's own product, it works with partners like Acer and Samsung which both offer excellent visual displays and great hardware.Cost of the Chromebook
The first batch of the product is already available on retails stores like Amazon and Bestbuy and you can choose to either get an Acer or Samsung branded type. How much does it cost to end users? Well it ranges from $349 - $499 depending on the features. Operating system
As said earlier, the Chromebook does not work on traditional OSes like Windows, Mac or unix but it is actually the first to run on the Chrome OS. Google Chrome OS is a linux based operating system designed primarily to run web applications although it is not exactly like the Linux we know. Chrome OS is remotely hosted on Google servers so your system just needs to start up and work with an internet connection This saves time and reduces errors or hang ups during booting. It actually boots in about 8 secs. Why you would need a Chromebook
- If you spend most of your time on the web
- If you spend much time on social sites like Facebook
- If you are addicted to Youtube
- If you do a lot of web chat
- If you work on the web for a living
- if you a frequent online shopper

Been waiting for something like this from Google. It was timely and really needed too. People need to have more choices on what kind of computers they would like to use
Re: Google Chromebook Posted by Joyce on June 22, 2011 at 23:42:11: Can I watch videos on this computer?
Re: Google Chromebook Posted by Felix Okoli on June 22, 2011 at 23:43:26: I should think so. Chrome has come inbuilt application that can play most video even if you were playing it from a USB but I don't know if it is capable of playing dvd yet from a disk
