Google is in Nigeria and in partnership with Ecobank and MTN Nigeria, they are offering a whole lot of small businesses in Nigeria an opportunity to get a free website and in minutes too. What I like about this offer is that is is not just free, it is also fast and they kind of website you get is really professional looking unlike some of the crap we've been seeing. The initiative or programme is titled GNBO - Getting Nigerian Businesses Online A lot of Nigerians may not have been so eager to getting a website and some perhaps due to the fact that they don't really know what it entails and others not so willing to spend money on a new project. Yes they may have a profitable business but the whole story about getting a website yet does not really appeal to themNow you can get a website for free with the GNBO program and I don't have to go through the whole process of informing you on why a businessTo get started: All you need to get started is to go to www.gnbo.com.ng and click on register+ Click on create your website
+ Sign up for a free Google account. It needs an email
+ Enter the sub domain name you wish
+ Click on continue
+ Enter you business name
+ Describe your business in one sentence
+ Describe your business as you would to a customer

+ Answer other questions like
- How customers deal with you
- If you make supplies
+ Fill in your contacts such as email and phone
+ Add more contacts if neededWhen you are through with filling the form, click on create a website. Why not?: Advantages of a business website
Now looking at it critically, this is really a nice programme for millions of businesses across Nigeria to get a website in seconds and here are a few advantages of the programme:- You don't pay for sub domain name (Normally costs about NGN1,500 per year)
- You don't pay for web hosting (Normally costs about NGN10,000/yr)
- No need for paying a web designer (Could cost about NGN20,000)
- Takes less time set up a website. You get it in minutes
- It gives your business a good public image
- People can contact you with email or phone
- Your business is on even while you sleep. This is perpetual marketingGoogle's sitebuilder works in such a way that it makes it so easy to building your website without any other person to help you. It works in such a way that even primary school children can do it. So, if you have a business in Nigeria, there really is no reason why you shouldn't have a website. Afterall, you are not paying for it. All you need to do is spare about 10 minutes and you business website is all setup. There is no reason why your Nigerian business shouldn't have a website now. I mean, this is 2011 for crying out loud! After you get your website setup, what next?
If your website is already setup, the next thing you just need to do is make it public. Let your customers know about it and this can help them trust you more. Your business profile would get a boost. A couple of ways you can use to publicize your new website is by making use of banners on your office to display your www.website.com. You may also send bulk sms to customers to inform them of your new launch. You may also include your website address on vouchers, reciepts and invoices you issue to customers.Examples of businesses in Lagos already on GNBO: See http://www.gnbo.com.ng/searchresults?q=lagos
