What a worrisom day this is. I was just listening to Wazobia radio station today and you know one thing about this station is that it can be addictive one you start listening to it. Anyway as I was tuned to it, a caller made a call to Yaw and was telling him about an ugly trend he noticed as a travel agent. He noticed that there were more Nigerians booking for flights to Malaysia as against countries like London or the USA. So what's the big deal about Malaysia? What's happening there? Well according to the report, it wasn't drugs. It wasn't fraud. It was all about kidney business and they weren't donating it for free. Now let's ask some few questions? Would you sell your kidney for any amount of money? Well N10 or N50 million can be a really attractive offer to a Nigerian when you thinking about what it can do for you in the country. It can at least build a house. But not matter how poor or middle class you are, why would you sell your kidney for money.Anyway, when I learnt about it, I just did a Google search to refresh my memory on what the kidneys really do. I found out that you can actually survive with one kidney and so God in his infinite wisdom must have put 2 there for a reason
It's funny that some people in Nigeria may even be willing to even sell 2 of their kidneys if they could survive without it. Well, should we really blame them. I guess when pushed to the wall, people may be more determined to "Get rich or die tryin" as 50 cent used to say.Another sad thing about the caller's story is that he was later informed about it by a client who returned after the Malaysia trip feeling sick and later found out that 2 of his kidneys were actually removed and a fake one (maybe an animal's) was put in its place of one. The kidney donor or seller later died in a Nigerian hospital with all his money. Sad story.
