At least that's what we heard that a Lagos state high court has awarded him against the NDLEA for wrongful detention over the stipulated time and perhaps as a way to compensate him for a violation of his fundamental human rights. Baba Suwe was arrested and detained several weeks ago after being suspected of drgu trafficking which they presumed that he swallowed. He was then detained in jail for a prolonged period of time as they waited for evidence from his stool. Many days and weeks passed but no evidence and it seemed that Libel was in the air and the odds were favouring Baba Suwe and coupled with the fact that he was held beyond the legal limit. I initially thought he was going to court to ask for over N1b compensation but for now it seems that the court have already awarded him the sum of N25m and this would really be a good christmas gift for the comedian who made his name on tv. We are not sure if the NDLEA would go to court to challenge this but it seems that for now, the ace comdian has something to smile about and a good name that has been rescued.

The baba suwe saga is a clear indication of failure of intelligence gathering in Nigeria. How do security operatives get security updates? how are information gathered and processed? Do they just work on hear says? If u ask me I think baba suwe deserves far more than 25m for the humilation, psychological and physical torture he was subjected to. Aside of the monetary penalties that has been imposed on the agency some persons and office that flagrantly abused the authority reposed in them should as well be brought to book so as to ensure that office holder exercise the powers resident in their offices within the purview of the law.
