It's in the news that the Lagos state govt is going to send some of the street sweepers for training to the Lagos. If you don't know who the cleaners are, I'm referring to staff from the Lagos State Waste Management Authority (aka LAWMA). Now this is some news but I can't seem to understand why. Maybe it's a Christmas gift for the deserving few who will be lucky to be sent by the govt. Reports are not yet clear what form their training will take but I guess they won't return to Nigeria empty handed or without some form of enlightenment. Well it's a noble thing that the govt is doing but do people really need to travel to the UK to learn how to sweep? I do hope their training would be more about learning how to do mechanized street cleaning and I guess the govt is planning to change the way it cleans the state.
