Nowadays, Facebookers in Nigeria are no longer thrilled as they used to after the news report of a tragedy that befell a use of the social network. She was killed by her facebook friends. Her name is Cynthia Osokogu and she was killed by her Facebook contacts after having met them in real life at a Lagos hotel in Amuwo Odofin. She was 24 years old.She was a Post graduate student studying Public Administration at the Nasarawa State university and also involved in a part time clothing business. She lives in Nasarawa, the same state where her family is based. At times it can be risky when physically meeting with people you've only known on the internet. One tip security tip on online dating or socializing is avoid meeting strangers and if you must, you should meet only in public places. She was lured to Lagos by a male Facebook contact through an all expense paid flight to Lagos and was reported to have been killed on the 22 of July, 2012. The Facebook contact that invited her to Lagos was said to be a 300 level student of Accounting from Unilag although the latter has since denied him being a student. Cynthia Osokogu has been Facebooking for sometime and had added a lot of friends to her Facebook contacts and not all of them were personally known to her. It so happened that as she arranged for a meeting with her Facebook contacts at a hotel in Lagos, they finally ended up drugging, robbing and killing her in the process. The suspected murderers claim they didn't plan to kill her but that she died of an overdose from however they also confessed that she struggled to escape and was strangled to death after the drug failed to have effectively induced her to sleep. The murderers were said to have taken away all forms of identification from the dead lady after killing her so that she could not be identified. Luck ran out of them however as one of them answered her phone when a call was made to it and this enabled their tracking to somewhere in Festac, Lagos. There was also a CCTV mounted in the hotel that captured their faces of the culprits and this led to their arrest quite easily after the hotel staff discovered her dead body chained in a room at Casmillo hotel, Lakeview Estate, Phase 1, Amuwo Odofin in Lagos.About 6 suspects have been arrested in the case which includes the pharmacist who provided the drug used, men who picked her up at the airport and some others too.

What a world we live in! poor innocent girl, they just snuffed out the life out of her for nothing. may her soul rest in peace. let the killers know that,he who lives by the sword, shall also die by the sword.
