Patrick Yakowa became governor of Kaduna state, a state in a Muslim populated region in Northern Nigeria after his successor and former governor, Namadi was promoted to the office of Vice president.Unlike his predecessors who were mostly Muslim, Yakowa made history as the first Christian to become a governor since the creation of the state in 1967. After he was sworn in, he did his best as governor of Kaduna by serving the state. He successfully ran for office in a close election on 26 April 2011 and won to become governor of Kaduna. His tenure was expected to end in 2015.The tragedy happened on the 15th of December 2012 when he, along with other officers like General Azazi(a former National Security Adviser) died in a helicopter crash that killed all the passengers in Bayelsa sate while attending to a friend's burial.Adieu Yakowa.
