Nigeria is a rich country and this is because it's made up of a lot of states which harbor assets like people and natural resources. Some states are big in terms of natural resource while some are big in terms of people. However what really make a state to be rich is based on the amount of income it generates. Yeah, its GDP is the difference.GDP means Gross Domestic Product and in this case, it is the value of output which a state produces. Some states generate high revenue based on their GDP while some generate low. In this blog post, I would like to report about some of the richest states in Nigeria based on their Gross Domestic Product(GDP).Richest states in Nigeria by GDP
=======================
According to a Wikipedia report for 2010, here are the values
1 Lagos State = US$ 33,679,000,000
2 Rivers State = US$ 21,073,000,000
3 Delta State = US$ 16,749,000,000
4 Oyo State = US$ 16,121,000,000
5 Imo State = US$ 14,212,000,000
6 Kano State = US$ 12,393,000,000
7 Edo State = US$ 11,888,000,000
8 Akwa Ibom State = US$ 11,179,000,000
9 Ogun State = US$ 10,470,000,000
10 Kaduna State = US$ 10,334,000,000
Lagos state despite not being an oil producing state still remains the richest by producing the highest GDP. It is probably due its advantage of being a former Federal capital and having access to ports, infrastructure and population. Lagos earns most of its revenue from other sectors besides oil. The state's success is what a lot of other Nigerian states are hoping to achieve.The second richest state in Nigeria based on its GDP is Rivers state, an oil producing one, which is located in South South Nigeria.The third richest state, Delta state is also in the oil rich Niger delta and generates most of its GDP from oil.Most oil rich states in Nigeria are already working on diversifying their oil revenues into other areas of the economy.

Lagos earns most of its revenue from taxation, land laws and so on.
