The last news report I read about Rivers state was about the fracas that took place at their state assembly between 2 opposing camps and this led violence and a free for all fight in which several members including the house leader was hospitalized. It seemed some group of lawmakers wanted to impeach the sitting governor against the wishes of majority of house members and so they were stopped but it led to a free for all fight while the Police seemed helpless and un-involved.It seemed that the main problem may have either began in Abuja or Rivers and has to do with PDP internal affairs most especially after the emergence of 2 chairman at the Nigerian governor's forum. If you ask me, I'd say that I still don't know who the authentic chairman of the NGF is since Jang and Amaechi have both laid claim to the sit. The NGF is the one of the most powerful political groups in Nigeria since it's a group of sitting governors in Nigeria. Anyway, it seems that most governors have shown allegiance to the Amaechi camp and so also have a lot of PDP members in Rivers state. The situation have however be different in Abuja and Amaechi may be a stumbling block for political plans ahead of 2015.What then is the problem in Rivers state? Why does they seem to be some external factors bent on making the administration of Rotimi Amaechi ineffective. All news reports now focus on events in Port-Harcourt as it seems to be rolling out a befitting Nollywood drama.Already, the Rivers state governor, Rotimi Amaechi have cried out that his life in in danger, some councilors are in hospital while some have already being invited by the police. The Senate and PDP are also investigating the matter.Whatever happens next is not so certain but it does seem that PDP would still need to work with Amaechi since he has majority of support from his people.
