After some preliminary investigation and probe into alleged cases of his financual misconduct as governor, it appears that the Adamawa state house of assembly has impeached the APC governor Murtala Nyako. Murtala Nyako, while in office, has been a strong voice in the opposition party and has publicly challenged the administration of Jonathan on many occasions describing it as corrupt and claims that the president is causing genoicide in the North East in his war against Boko Haram.Prior to his entry into politics, he was a retired Vice Admiral in the Nigerian army, served in the Navy and was once military governor of the old Niger state. The former governor of Adamawa state was elected on the platform of the PDP but switched to the APC as at November 2013 after having some disagreement with the former PDP chairman Bamanga Tukur. The deputy governor of the state, Bala James Ngilari, had already resigned prior the the impeachment move in order to avoid getting impeached and had remained a loyal member of the PDP even when the governor changed party. It seems the deputy is interested in running for the exalted office during the next governorship election. With the removal of Murtal Nyako, it comes to 2 the number of APC governors who have been removed from power seemingly in favour of the ruling PDP.
