Would even a rich Nigerian see a missing 12 million Naira and return it to the owners or a lost and found department? Well, there are still good people in Nigeria who believe that a good name is better than riches and would not mind remaining poor as long as they do they right thing.Did I hear you say N12m? Yes, N12m and in this day, that amounts to about $60,000 using an exchange rate of N200 per Dollar. It's would even be hard for an Oyibo man to return that kind of money if he sees it by mistake. Some Nigerians deserve to be celebrated even while alive because of the good works they've done. It's not easy to be honest in Nigeria and it's even harder when you are living below minimum wage as you'd e barely making enough to pay all your bills but the case was different in the life of Josephine Ugwu, a cleaner working at the airport and earning a monthly salary of just N7800(about $40).
There are still many other things we would like to know about this woman that makes her a bit different from the average Nigerian. What drives her? Where is she from? What religious group does she belong to? Is she married? How old is she? There must be something different and special about the kind of world in which she operates that makes her a bit immune to the normal life in Nigeria.Mrs Josephine Ugwu was working as a contract cleaner with a company at the international airport and earning a monthly salary of about N7800 which was way below Nigeria's official minimum wage. At the airport, she ran into a bag containing some money and items worth up to N12 million and took the bag to the lost items department at the airport since it was the policy. The company she works for named Patovilki Cleaning Services later rewarded her by almost doubling her salary with an additional N7200 however it was reported that the owner of the item who later came back to collect it did not offer any reward.Again, I'm surprised that the owner of the bag could actually leave up to N12m at the airport and walk away only to return back to it. I heard the man is one Samuel from Anambra state. Na Wa o. This Anambra people sef. Dem get money sha.How much will you give as a reward to a woman who helped return your N12m? Personally, I don't mind giving her at least N1m. How much will you give her?I thank God that the missing money which was returned by the lady to the airport officials did not get missing afterwards and it's really helping to give a good name to our international airport. I hail the officials and management at the Murtala Mohammed Airport. You guys are working well.I think women like Mrs Josephine Ugwu deserve a national award or something like that although it seems she would want more of cash than just mere recognition.
