It's now easier for Nigerians to do airtime topup for their mobile phones irrespective of the GSM network they are subscribed to. In the not too distant past, many had to resort to scratching paper recharge cards, entering long PINs before being able to reload airtime credit to their lines. Nowadays, banks and GSM companies have made it easier as people can also buy airtime topup directly using their Virtual Top Up (VTU) platforms.VTU platforms in Nigeria work are available to Nigerian consumers through various channels such as ATMs, Recharge vendors, internet as well as by dialing USSD codes. The 2 easiest ways to do airtime top up in Nigeria which I prefer using are the internet and USSD option. Since I have an internet connection, I can easily recharge my airtime credit from my home or office without the need for looking for a recharge card seller or even an ATM. Those 2 options are what I can do anytime of the day and whenever I like. When I want to buy airtime credit using the internet, I need an internet connection and I also need to visit websites such as Quickteller or my bank's internet banking platform to log in before buying airtime using my bank funds. When I however choose to buy airtime by simply dialing a USSD code from my phone, all I need to do is dial the secret code which my bank provided me and airtime credit will be loaded to my phone directly.Which of them is better? Is is easier and better to buy airtime topup using the internet or USSD platform? Well, I think it is really easier to use to USSD option becasue it saves a lot of time and you don't need to log into a website or anything before buying airtime. I remembered a time when I tried buying airtime on Quickteller but the website or my internet service was nit working and I just remembered that my bank also offered airtime recharge via USSD and just dialed that option and airtime credit was loaded. So, internet service and websites are not as reliable as USSDs based on what I know now. So, it's easier to use USSD to load airtime but it has limits.Buying airtime credit using the internet offers you more options as you can load more airtime credit than when you use USSD. USSD service provided by banks have a daily limit of about N3000 while you can buy airtime credit worth up to N10,000 or more from your bank when using internet banking since it's considered safer. So, if you want to load more airtime credit than what the USSD platform will offer you, you can make use of internet platforms such as Quickteller or your internet banking service but if you are just loading in small values, just stick with the USSD platform.List of airtime top up codes for some banks in Nigeria
