There is a new virus that is spreading fast in the world. It has not yet officially reached Nigeria but it could and it's one that is not as deadly as Ebola. It's not Ebola virus but it's a bit different and is spread by mosquitoes but not much is know about how else it can be spread. One of the bad things about the Zika virus is that it can affect the health of babies in the womb by making them have smaller brains and that could affect their ability to be as intelligent as their parents. It can lead to brain damage in children. The Zika virus is spread by a mosquito known as the Aedes aegypti and normally bites in the afternoons. It's said to be existing in tropical countries like Nigeria but there has not been any official case of the infection yet here.Countries affected: Mostly south american countries like Brazil, Central america and the Carribean. What are the symptoms? It's hard to diagnose but slight symptoms include fever, rash, joint pain and red eyes. The symptoms are relatively mild but there are few deadly cases. Many people are already infected with the virus but only few of them have fallen seriously ill and there is really no official medical cure for it other than relying on the body's immune system to fight it. People who are infected with it are advised to take lots of bed rest, drink lots of water and eat healthy foods.
