When it comes to politics in Nigeria, one can't really predict what politicians will do but in the case of Obasanjo, a person who just handed over power to his successor, under the platform of the PDP and a former army General, I think it's a bit predictable that he would be disloyal to the ruling party just yet.The APC, which is the largest opposition party in Nigeria as at now happened to be visiting a lot of political heavy weights in the country in a bid to woo them to their party. The last popular person they've been reported to have visited was the former President, Olusegun Obasanjo. As far as the APC was concerned, it's just a courtesy visit and they were also taking advantage of the crisis rocking PDP in order to win over members like Obasanjo.Earlier, there had been news reports of OBJ's letter to Jonathan with the former criticizing his god son on some of the evils of his current administration. Obasanjo is the first president which the PDP has produced and he is a retired army general who actually has a good relationship with the likes of IBB and Abdusalam. Will OBJ really deny his party and jump ship to another relatively new opposition party?APC may be growing stronger faster giving the number of governors and lawmakers already in their kitty. Having been formed by a combination of strong parties like the CPC, ACN and ANPP, it is strongest opposition party which the PDP has ever faced since it became the major party in 1999.If a person like Obasanjo would ever want to turn the APC into a major party, all he needed to do was to become a member and the PDP would become a minor party as there would be a lot of other important persons who would follow Obasanjo to APC.However, as the disciplined and loyal person I know him to be, he is too old and too stuck to his ways to just switch parties overnight. Perhaps, if the PDP actually dies first, then he may choose a new party but I don't think that will happen any time soon. OBJ is too loyal to the PDP and has benefitted a lot from the party so he is the least likely person to join the APC for now.
