Yes, one of the most popular news reports nowadays seems to be centered around N225 Million.A few days ago, a news report broke out talking about the recent purchase of 2 special cars for around N225m on behald of the Ministry of Aviation of which Ms Stella Oduah heads. What would you do with N225 million? What can N225 million buy in Nigeira? Well, that's a huge amount of money and believe me, many Nigerians would never see that amount of money in their life time but this is what our Ogas at the top can spend on just their security.Yes, in Nigeria, it seems that security expenditure is one of the top spending channels and this was reported to have being spent on acquiring 2 BMW bullet proof vehicles and to be used by the Minstry of Aviation. If you ask me, there is really nothing wrong with a Minstry approving the purchase of bullet proof cars but the issue at stake here as most Nigerians are aware of is the unusual high cost. Some experts have argued that those cars would have been purchased with less than N60m but the N225 seems to be an inflated figure which ends up making Jonathan's administration and expensive one.I guess this had to be reported in the news because it seems like a waste of money and needs to be properly investigated. There are already speculations that the Minister involved may be removed and probed. We may expect a voluntary resignation soon or a sack. This is a ministry, under whose watch there has been a couple of fatal plane crashes of which the Ministry has attributed to an act of God. If this was in other countries where people in power are normally blamed strictly, the minster may have resigned already. But this is Nigeria, where anything goes.I believe a govt official has a right to protect themselves at least while in office since we are in an era of Boko haram but we need to be really modest in spending public funds.
