It's an annual event in Nigeria for power supply from the electricity company to show some form of improvement during the rainy season unlike the case during the dry season because it seems that Nigerians use less power and the power company also generate more power from water dams during this period.I happened to run into a discussion about the seemingly improving power situation and they were claiming it was part of the benefits which the current Nigerian President had brought but I was quick to point out that the current president has not even appointed any ministers yet and that any power supply we were currently government was actually as a result the efforts of the former president who left office in May.Also, it is too early to start saying whether Buhari is performing well or not relative to the power sector although I believe he would do some good but you don't just rate performance in the Power industry during the rainy season as it's already normal for electricity supply to improve during that period since water levels normally rise up and our hydro-powered generators work much better than. It's not yet up to 100 days or even 6 months and you are already praising Buhari for steady power during the rainy season. I think we should be patient and wait till the dry season because that's when electricity supply drops the lowest.Besides, you can't just say that Buhari is the reason for the improved power situation when he just entered office barely 2 months ago and has not yet made any serious or public decision about improving the power situation. As at today, Nigeria has over 20 hydro-electric power stations scattered around the country with some owned fully by the Federal government, some fully owned by state govts while others are owned jointly by the Federal and state govts. So, you'd see that many power stations in Nigeria are powered by water and their efficiency works best during the rainy season than the dry season when water levels go lower.I just think it's too early to start saying whether Buhari has done anything to improve the current power situation because if there is any improvement now, it's actually because of the rainy season and some work carried out during Jonathan and Obasanjo's administration. The current president's administration is yet to do much in terms of power but I believe that he is still going to add his contribution when the time comes as mos previous presidents have done.Let's not be in a hurry to praise or condemn President Buhari but let's give him at least 1 year or so before one can really say if electricity supply has improved or not. Let's give him time to see how much work he is able to do. We also need to wait till the dry season to know if the Power company has really improved or not and not be quick to praise them or the president during a rainy season. It's laughable and immature that some people are already doing so.
