As the media and politicians now focus on the recent face-off between the Senate President and the Code of Conduct tribunal, a leader of APC and former governor of Lagos state has also revealed that he was also questioned by the EFCC way on issues regarding his assets. The former Lagos state governor and Asiwaju of Lagos revealed that about 2 weeks after he left office, he was invited by the EFCC on a similar issue related to his assets but since they didn't have sufficient evidence to prove their case, he was free and even later ended up suing the EFCC to court.According to his reasoning, it's normal for politicians and civil servants to be quizzed if there are suspected cases of corruption but they need to prove that they have nothing to hide and are honest.I guess the Senate President might feel a bit humiliated that of all Senators or retired governors, it would appear that he is being singled out by the Code of Conduct Tribunal many years after he had been governor of Kwara state for questioning. We are not yet sure how the case would play out but it has been adjourned to October 21st 2015 but many see the trial as a plot by some APC politicians which may also include the President to remove Saraki out of office for defying the party's choice for Senate President through an alliance with PDP Senators.
