The elections are around the corner and in a few months, Nigerians will know who their next President will be. Will President Buhari win a second term? Well, I'm not sure but one thing about being an incumbent President in Nigeria is that it is an added advantage to win an election since the office gives the President more media coverage and without the need to spend more money on advertising - He just has to do a good job to win again. A sitting President will really have to perform below average in order to lose an second term in office.I've been analyzing some of the possibilities that could make President Buhari stil win a second term in 2019 and this is what I've come up with:1. He is a sitting President: He has an added advantage over a new comer who may not have much financial backup to spend on campaigns2. He has not performed below average: Although some may argue that the President has not done much to deserve a 2nd term in terms of economy or investment projects, he has not done poorly either as he's brought more security in the North East, increased pressure in fighting corruption and also improvement in the power sector.3. The North/South West alliance: Although the President's party doesn't get much support from the South East and South South, the political alliance between the Hausa/Fulanis and Yorubas of the South West is still very much strong or so it seems and there has not been any major pullouts from the alliance apart from a few party switchers in the National assembly. He has more strength though in the North where is from but this may be whittled down a bit in favour of his contender in the PDP. He is still mroe likely to win in the North and South West. The Middle belt may be the deciding factor though.
