Nigeria now has a new government, a new President and a new political party in power and this is meant to help make life better for Nigerians by improving on the strengths of the previous administration while also taking us away from their weakness.I understood why prior to the 2015 general elections, the APC and opposition candidates were fond of blaming the PDP and the President Jonathan Goodluck for every bad thing that happened in Nigeria. When Boko haram attacks and bombs people, they blame Jonathan and PDP. When the price of crude oil drops, they blamed Jonathan and the PDP. They were desperate enough to win that they were always eager to look for loopholes and faults with which they can blame Jonathan and the ruling PDP government of that day. However, I noticed that when Nigeria achieved any positive thing under the PDP administration, they don't really praise the government for it and so I've known them to be fault finding politicians who were just eager to get into power. When Nigeria's economy became the biggest in Africa through rebasing, the APC politicians didn't praise the government of that day but their job was to criticize anything they feel the government was doing or unable to do even if it was something such as fuel scarcity.
I think the APC and their politicians should know that there are no longer an opposition party and that Nigerians are getting tired of the blame game. Most Nigerians know that Nigerian politicians are all the same and it will only be a matter of time before the APC politicians start doing the same things they were blaming the PDP politicians for doing. It seems that there really is no much difference from APC and PDP government even though the latter rose to power through their campaign for change.Nigerians voted for change but not a mere change in terms of who occupies the Presidential office or which political party wins but change that would have a direct positive impact on their lives.ACP made their promises but we are not sure any of them have been fulfilled yet. The promise to stabilize the Naira is not yielding much fruit as it has fallen to as low as N300 per US dollar. The CBN has made several policies to stabilize the Naira but yet the Naira fell by a much lower margin under an APC government than under aPDP government within the same time frame. It would appear that the APC led Federal government is finding it hard to control the economy as the PDP government did.The N5000 monthly stipend they promised for unemployed people is not yet in the picture and the proposed budget for 2016 is still a deficit budget as funds would need to be borrowed to be able to support it. The promise to get uninteruppted power supply by Fashola if Nigerians vote out PDP has not happened yet and I'm not sure it will be possible in their first 4 years of power. The PDP led government under Jonathan Goodluck had a better relationship with people of the Niger Delta which was host to over 90% of Nigeria's foreign income through crude oil but it seems that the Buhari led government no longer wants to treat them with friendly hands as there was a recent experience that had the army being sent to the Niger Delta after bomb blasts stopped oil flow through strategic pipelines in the region. Considering that the Nigerian government still relies mostly on oil to sustain her economy, it would be ill-advised to go to war against the Niger Delta as it's better to negotiate with them at least till Nigeria is able to diversify her economy. It's getting almost to a year that the APC took power from PDP at the Federal level even though the PDP still controls all the oil producing states of Nigeria. It would be better if the APC starts to produce action rather than using media campaigns led by Lai Mohammed, Nigeria's Minister of Information and Culture. You only need to search facebook comments about what Nigerians are saying about Lai Mohammed and you'd notice that they've even renamed him lie lie Mohammed because they feel he's never tired of telling lies. While I don't support the idea of insulting people on Facebook even if you could get away with it and no matter how you hate the person, it however shows what Nigerians are thinking as that's what they express through their comments on Facebook. The easiest way to know if people love or hater you on facebook is to create a page and allow comments. If they hate you, you'd get a lot of negative comments.Blaming Jonathan and the PDP seemed like fun before the 2015 elections and many Nigerians tolerated it but now that the opposition has come to power, it's time to grow up and do more rather than talk more.In 2016, right thinking Nigerians are concerned about the rising fuel price, the falling value of the Naira, the cry for Biafra, the inefficiency of electricity supply, the scarcity and rising price of Kerosene, governors who keep owing the salary of civil servants, the alleged one sided war against corruption and the seeming lack of federal charaacter in public appointments. Many Nigerians are tired of hearing what the PDP did or did not do but what they want to know is that the APC has been doing after being in office for almost 1 year. The delay in appointing ministers was seen as a sign of upreparedness and weakness and Buhari needs to prove that they will perform better than the PDP within their first 4 years in office. Not everyone in Nigeria is happy with the way the APC led government keeps on attacking the work of it's predecessor as it's no longer a popular thing among them. It is better for the government to focus more on doing what it promised the people that it will do rather than keep using the media and their public office to engage in the blame game. The elections are over and it's time to stop the hate campaigning.
