When Jonathan Goodluck was President of Nigeria, I do remember vividly that there were cases of fuel scarcity but they didn't last so long as during Buhari's administration and budgets were passed much faster. I also did remember than the Naira didn't lose as much value then as it has done now. When I begin to think of some of the things we as Nigerians have been witnessing under this administration and compare it with the previous one, It makes me feel as if Goodluck's adminstration was really better than that of Buhari. It may still seem too early to judge the administration of Buhari as a civilian President since he's still less than 1 year since he assumed office but I have to say that based on what I've seen, it seems that this new government doesn't yet know how to effectively run the country as much as the previous one did. Perhaps, it was because there was a change in political power and the handover was not done properly. Perhaps, there were some hidden secrets which the Goodluck Jonathan's administration didn't show to the Buhari administration that makes it seem as if the new government is still learning how to run the country. Things like how to handle fuel importers, how to pay worker's salaries, how to avoid fuel scarcity, how to manager the Naira, how to create jobs, how to control the violence caused by armed herdsmen from the North and so on. A lot of bad things have happened during Buhari's Presidency that at times makes one to wonder if there would really be any good thing Nigerians would gain from it.During the 2015 Presidential election, some Nigerians voted for change while some voted for continuity but in the end, those who wanted change succeeded but since then it seems that all we've been having is nothing but negative change. Yes, majority of Nigerians voted for change but the change they've been witnessing over the past 9 months has not been encouraging. No electricity, no fuel, no economic stability, growing insecurity and so on.The difference between the number of people who voted for Goodluck Jonathan and those who voted for Buhari was about 2.5 million out of a total number of about 30 million voters. The closeness of the results showed that Nigerians were mostly divided between the 2 candidates and that Buhari really did perform well given that he was running against a sitting President of Nigeria. I guess what helped Buhari was because he was once a military ruler and his name had already been made popular thanks to history. He also represented change which some people were looking for and was one many northerners believed would stand for the north amidst the growing terrorism caused by Boko haram.Under Buhari's administration and economic policy, the Naira has fallen from about N220 to N320 at the black market. There has been a prolonged scarcity of and irregular supply of petroleum which many Nigerians need. There has also been a falling level of electrical power generation unlike during the Jonathan Goodluck's administration. One might say that only a Pro-PDP or Pro-Jonathanian would criticize the Buhari administration but if you take a look at the realities on ground, it would be obvious that the Nigeria of 2016 is a bit worse than the Nigeria of 2013 or 2015.In Summary, I'm inclined to believe that Goodluck did a bit better than Buhari in terms of how they've handled their office but this is just my own view. What about you? Do you think that Goodluck performed better than Buhari or not?
