It's almost over and given the figures already released, Donald Trump is going to be the next President of the United States. I'm sure that one question which will be on the minds of many people now is - Why did he win?Over a year ago or so when I heard many candidates running for the number one seat in the white house, one person who stood out well among them was Donald Trump and this was apart from him being a billionaire, he best represents what the average American is like or if you like, what I presume to be what the average Americans are like. He is loud, speaks intelligently, uses vulgar words but also talks truthfully about important issues that affect the society in general. He is the voice of the voiceless. He started an early campaign
When Donald Trump first declared his intention to run for President, it seemed like a joke to many people but as time went on, people became gradually tuned into him as he made public appearances and wrote books on his ideas. He didn't start his campaign just a year or 2 ago but several years ago even though he wasn't yet officially running officially. So, Trump sold his ideas to people a long time in advance before many other politicians did such that when he did eventually decide to run, it was his for the taking. So, one reason why I think Donald Trump won the Presidential election in 2016 was because he started earlyHe distanced himself from the Washington
A lot of Americans were already unsatisfied with Washington and were looking for an outsider who could shake up things in Washington. jobs were not forthcoming and the economy is doing poorly. A lot of working Americans find it hard to pay their mortgage and loans as Obama's promises have failed. They wanted change and so any politician who wanted their votes needed to be angry with the ruling party and offer an alternative. Trump was their ideal candidate even though he was not perfect. He dealt more on important issues
Donald Trump dealt on important issues that most Americans were concerned about such as fair trade, immigration, religious rights and so on which Clinton didn't really bother to stress on. Clinton seemed more to focus on highlighting Trump's faults and tried to prevent him getting votes from women and immigrants. He attracted more white voters
Most white people came out to vote during the 2016 Presidential elections unlike the case in the past when only fewer of them came out. It seemed like they wanted to take their country back and save it from Obama and his preferred candidate. It showed that white people still had the power and were better mobilized to come out massively for Trump. While Hispanics and African Americans probably voted more for Clinton, their votes were not enough to overtake those of the white voters who were considered mostly average working Americans. Some of them may not have participated in public polls and were just die hard fans or the silent majority who were only waiting for November 8th to prove that they still hold the power.American voters didn't care much about the media
Donald Trump had complained a lot about the negative media publicity towards him and actually, I have to say that the media carried more negative stories about him than they did about Clinton. Despite all that, he still won the elections and it was probably because he tried to neutralize the negative media publicity with his own public speeches. The media did have an effect on reducing his votes but I'm sure he would have won a landslide victory if he spent more money on ads like Clinton and had little or no negative stories in the media. Clinton's campaign spent more than Trump's and it probably helped her but it wasn't enough to win the Donald. He best represents the ordinary Americans:
Many Americans voted for Trump because he was more like them and not a traditional politician. They believe he would bring the radical change needed at Washington. He talked like them and promoted the idea of making America work again. Trump is seen more as a business or entrepreneur than a politician and while he may not have won more votes among graduates, he was able to get the majority vote from the ordinary Americans who have not been brainwashed by American politics. There are probably a lot other reasons why Donald Trump won the election but these are the ones I've been able to answer for now.YouTube speech: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tBMb9Xg45jQ
